Campionul european de sah, un român (cel putin partial :) ), Dieter Nisipeanu,  si cel mondial, V. Topalov, se bat.

(Romanian) President Traian Basescu will make the first move in the test game between European Chess Champion Dieter Nisipeanu and World Champion Bulgarian Veselin Topalov.
The match, formed of four games disputed in classical system, is the most important ever disputed in Romania. Even if the match is considered a test game, the result will count for the calculation of the ELO coefficient, that helps establishing the chess players world standings. The game will take place April 6th to 9th.
Topalov and Nisipeanu have played against each other before in 1991 at the European juniors' championship. The match finished with a draw. "I remember that at the end of the match, a spectator came to me and showed me how I could have beaten him. It was a difficult solution I had never seen before," Nisipeanu said.
Topalov has held the World title since October while Nisipeanu became European champion in July 2005.

Aha...am inteles...inseamna ca se poate ca un sahist sa fie la un moment dat campionul mondial si sa nu aiba coeficientul ELO cel mai mare?

Parca era si la fotbal o chestie cu amicalele nationalei care contau pentru palmares...si ca atare cand se faceau "experimente" riscante, preferau sa joace sub alta titulatura..."nationala divizionara"...

Pai da. Un campion mondial poate pierde puncte jucând in astfel de meciuri. Oricum, actualmente, Topalov e unul dintre cei doar 3 jucatori din lume care au peste 2800 de puncte.

Intelege cineva cum e cu sistemul asta ELO? Ca eu nu...Oricum, inteleg ca nici macar nu se mai foloseste sistemul lui Elo, pentru ca performanta unui jucator de sah n-ar avea o distributie normala, ci logistica (nu clopot, ci S crescator) dar ii zic inca ELO ca un omagiu lui Elo (ala care a inventat sistemul).

Sahul asta e un mister pentru mine. Ce fel de inteligenta iti trebe ca sa fii bun? Caci e clar ca sunt mai multe tipuri de inteligenta. Ca idee, am inteles ca Nisiparu n-a terminat nici liceul (vroiam sa aduc argumentul asta intr-o discutie despre inteligenta-cultura). "Masinile de sah" par a fi cam la fel de puternice ca omul in acest joc,   iar o combinatie de om+masina ar constitui cel mai bun jucator de sah din lume (e dovedit experimental, dar e ilegal :) )

agree aici, am avut o colega in generala care a fost la un moment dat invitata in emisiunea lui Polihroniade. Era corijenta la mai toate, inclusiv mate (spre uluirea totala a  lu' profu' de mate care credea ca pentru sah iti trebe gandire matematica)
